Are you talking about goal kicks or when the goalie has the ball in hand?

In our U8 league, the opposing team has to be in the center circle on goal kicks. The kicking team players just have to wait for the ball to clear the box (like the normal rules), but can line up wherever they want. This rule is great because it lets the kicking team get the ball up the field a little bit before losing possession if the other team has superior players.

We don't have goalies in outdoor soccer at U8. In indoor soccer when the keeper had the ball in hand, we had the keeper run to the corner of the box and throw the ball up and out, kind of toward the sideline, but more toward where the half line meets the sideline. We tried to teach the keeper to run to the corner of the box with the fewer amount of other team players, even if our team didn't have many (or even anyone) on that side of the field.
